Dr Villy Rouchota (Dip Trans IoL)

I am a full time freelance translator and interpreter, who translates from English into Greek (which is my mother tongue) and from Greek into English. I have considerable experience in translating legal, medical, financial, commercial and technical texts, as well as general material, both from English into Greek and from Greek into English.

I have worked for agencies such as Aktuel Translations, Alden Translations, Atlas Translations, Blue Ribbon, Elizabeth Higgins, Get Wise, Language Line, Lingua Skills, The Total Translation Company, The Translation Consultancy, Tongue Tied, Tranex, Translation Management, Transtec, Wordbank and many others. As an interpreter, I have been involved in political, legal and scientific conferences (organised for instance by EBRD and Auditel). The professional standard of my work is guaranteed by my Diploma in Translation from the Institute of Linguists. References and examples of my work are available on request.

The background that I bring to my work is that of a trained linguist. I have an MA and a PhD in Linguistics and for a number of years I was employed by the department of Phonetics and Linguistics at University College London, where I lectured and carried out research in this field. I completed my BA studies in Greek Literature at the University of Athens.

For a long time I had been doing translation work alongside my academic career. In 1997 I decided to take up this line of work full time. This suits my family commitments much better and I enjoy it a lot!
